Sometimes I forget that "Southland" exists and then NBC shows a commercial and I go whoooo, Ben McKenzie! I like the show, I do. I'm glad NBC's picked it up at least.
Today was so effing exhausting, but the powers that be took pity on me and I got my awards submissions out and did my filing and helped with a couple of other proposals. I didn't get to take a lunch break, but I'd rather be busy than bored and trying to figure out what blogs to read. Tomorrow I'm getting what I think is a deserved break and hopping on a train to Connecticut to see my buddy who I haven't seen since like January or something ridiculous. I love train rides so very much, but what I don't like is that I still have to get up at 7 tomorrow even though it's not a work day.
I am still pissed about Allison Iraheta, for the record. Granted, I couldn't see her singing a coronation song or anything, but I wanted to see her top 3 or two at least. I think she deserved it. I don't understand why she never caught on or why the judges didn't flat out compliment her ever. They know the voting; they knew she wasn't a serious threat to anyone. They could have full-on praised her, and A Boy could still win. And for the record, I can't imagine Kris or Adam doing a coronation song, either. Danny- of course. David Cook pulled it off because the song wasn't too bad and he came off as such an earnest, emotional guy that it felt natural. Cannot WAIT for Slezak's interview with Ms. Iraheta, though.
I need a haircut and highlights and a crash course in how to "do my bangs."
Also, the Academy Is... are so damn cute. I really like them- yet another example of going from "yr band sucks" to "can't wait to have an excuse to listen to you again." See also: Led Zeppelin. And speaking of which, I'm still loving Pandora, but I tried to do like a GlamRock station, and I started with Queen and Bowie and T.Rex and Pandora keeps shoehorning Zeppelin and Hendrix in there. I guess they didn't quite get what I was going for! I did one with FOB/Cobra/Gym Class/Panic/Academy too, and let's be honest, I made like 8 stations.
The best news ever is that the NYC MTA finally reached an agreement and I'm only going to have to pay like $7 for my monthly subway pass instead of the projected $20, and allegedly, the city is going to audit the MTA and demand more transparecny and such, because those are some corrupt MFers at that there MTA, and we all have to suffer. Of course, they're just going to bitch and moan in another year and have to raise the prices like $5 more, but I'd rather it go slowly than all at once.
